LOUVRE PRIVATE TOUR (4h) :
Probably one of the most fascinating museums in the world, it is a "must see" in Paris for the first time visitor. Originally a medieval fortress built by Philippe August in the XIIth century, the Louvre became the Palace of many kings with the king François 1er in 1546. It was transformed later into a museum. The Louvre visit can be tiring, you won't be able to see half of it in one day! So we recommend that you select in advance the collections you prefer to visit in order to save time!
You must see the Mona lisa, the Venus de MILO, but please note that most impressionism paintings are not in the LOUVRE, they are at the Orsay museum. The Louvre has mostly paintings up to the XVIIIth. century.

MUSEE RODIN:
The Government acquired the Hotel Biron in 1905 and Rodin rented the ground floor from 1908 onwards. From that moment, the sculptor, backed by his closest friends, was determined to turn the Hotel Biron into a museum devoted to his works. It was only in 1916, through three successive donations, that Rodin handed over to the Government all his collections and personal archives, his property in Meudon and, even more important, his works, both sculptures and drawings, accompanied by reproduction rights.
The museum opened its doors to the public on 4th August 1919. At present, it houses marble, bronze, plaster, wax and terracotta sculptures, ceramics, paintings, drawings, and works by other artists (Monet, Renoir, Van Gogh) from his personal collection.
Our private tour includes also a tour within the magnificient garden.

SAINTE CHAPELLE AND CONCIERGERIE
Sainte-Chapelle was built during the second half of 13th Century by Louis IX, the future Saint Louis, to house the relics of the Passion of Christ. Adorned with a unique collection of fifteen glass panels and a large rose window forming a veritable wall of light, Sainte-Chapelle is a gem of French gothic architecture.
La Conciergerie and Sainte-Chapelle include the remains of the oldest Parisian royal palace – the Palais de la Cité, which was converted into a prison in the15th Century.
This site, which was the residence of the Roman governors and later of the first Capetians, was chosen by Philippe le Bel in the early 14th Century as the place where he would build a palace to symbolise his power, described at the time as one of the most impressive palaces of the Middle Ages.

Real magic shows included in the entry price can be seen there but also instruments allowing to have objects disappear and to deform reality : the box of the sawed woman, small objects in wood coming from boxes of " amusing physics " offered to children of the 19th century, the " secret boxes " from where jewels disappear, automations, some " dimenderies ", malleable objects in brass made in Dinand in Belgium.
- The doll museum : The dolls have replaced in 1995 the former museum of mechanic instruments. The new museum shows a collection of dolls and of French porcelain " babies " dating from 1860 to 1960, gathered by two collectors, Guido and his son Samy Odin. Presented in a decor recalling the times of their creation, the dolls have evouated too : the " Parisians " from 1860-1870 have an adult face and copy the fashion. It is only after 1880 that the first dolls with a child face, then a baby face appear.

THE BOURDELLE MUSEUM
In the Montparnasse district, the Musée Bourdelle offers one of the rare examples of the artists' workshops that flourished in the last 19th and early 20th centuries.
Antoine Bourdelle (1861-1929) established himself there in 1885. A native of Montauban, he looked to continue his training and career as a sculptor in Paris, where he remained until his death in 1929.
It was there, fore more than 40 years, that he produced the major part of his work.
In 1949, the museum was inaugurated, while at the same time preserving the authenticity of the site. In 1992, the extension designed by Christian de Portzamparc enabled the museum finally to present the entirety of Bourdelle's work.
More than 500 marble, plaster and bronze statues, paintings, pastels, fresco sketches, plus Bourdelle's personal collection, occupy the rooms and gardens of the museum.

MUSEE DU PETIT PALAIS : JUST REOPENED TO PUBLIC!
The extremely beautiful Petit Palais, built for the Universal Exhibition of 1900 by Charles Girault, houses major collections, offering a broad perspective of artistic creativity from antiquity until the beginning of this century. The ancient art collection is essentially attributable to the shrewdness of the Dutuit brothers who bequeathed in 1902 their rich collections of ancient and medieval objects, their precious French and Italian Renaissance pieces and their famous collection of Flemish and Dutch paintings.
The collection was supplemented by 18th century paintings, sculptures, tapestries and objets d'art donated by Tuck.
The museum also owns a remarkable series of 19th century works, commissioned and bought by the City of Paris during the century (Dalou workshop) and also major donations (Courbet, Carpeaux, Carriès, Cézanne) and constantly enriched through a judicious acquisition policy (Delacroix, Ingres, Chassériau, etc).
The works exhibited reflect the main painting movements of the century. The 1900 period is also illustrated by quality objets d'art (pottery, glass by Gallé).
